CAMP RESOURCES PROTECTION

January 20, 2009

Because of damage to property and potential safety issues in the past related to short-term camping activities the Camping Committee has considered at length how best to ensure the preservation of the existing resources for future Scouting programs. On this date, the following guidelines for organized activities at Camp Lavigne are promulgated to be followed:

Vehicles in camp:

Cars / Trucks

Parking in the main lot should be organized so that a maximum number of vehicles can be parked safely.

Parking can be done in a slanting fashion on the creek side of the road to the Program Shelter. A turn around will be at the Program Shelter.

Two (2) vehicles only will be allowed to be at each established campsite. Overflow parking will be at the east end of the regular lot on the grass (this is a planned expansion of the lot). Wet weather will, of necessity, affect the use of this area. It must be known that this is an area known to flood.

Dining Hall use:

Cleanliness

The kitchen and the Dining Hall will be checked and cleared, in writing, for cleanliness and breakage with the Camp Ranger or his designate prior to the end of the activity.

Sleeping

The Dining Hall is a specifically prohibited as a sleeping area for any personnel.

Enforcement:

The lead organizer of the event is responsible for the education of participants and provision of personnel to enforce these guidelines. If we fail in these efforts, the deterioration of camp facilities will continue and our camp will lose it’s rustic beauty.
